Women - crazed, cold, cruel - getting (bloody) even isn't new, but the most recent season of The Handmaid's Tale presents a different take on anger and revenge
Many blood moons ago, I was a prolific contributor to the Shane Meadows Form. We mainly discussed the films and actors and their relation to the real world. I caused an accidental argument when I suggested re Dead Man's Shoes that not only was Richard not a monster but in fact well within his rights to take the revenge he took. Forgiveness is for those who fear God.
Brilliant. Perfect. Elizabeth Moss is an absolute genius in this role. The intensity. The slight snarl. You're right, of course. She's doing what most of us have, however briefly, considered. And it's wonderful. I thought I'd enjoy it less as it steered away from the original text, but the direction of each series has engaged me as have the characters (100% June, but I do love Serena as a character and others as well). It's like ER. I don't ever want to be without it, but I don't ever want it to lose what I like about it so I know it can't last forever. Love this piece, still want to meet you for a coffee some day and just talk about Romano, Susan Lewis... And now June. And rage.
Jaw dropping outstanding piece. Strangely enough I’ve just watched the handmaids tale for the first time so quite apt. x
Standing up & clapping here 👏. Excellent piece, getting to the guts of it as always. X

I got so excited when my phone alerted me to a new Terri White article and it didn’t disappoint! Brilliant as always.
