I am doing exactly the same, so will join you on this journey! I tried previously to get into it but couldn’t get past Ep4. It’s not that I *have* to have a hero to guide me through, but they were all so horrible I had nothing to grasp onto. I too thought my nearest and dearest can’t *all* be wrong so I decided to try again and see if I could catch up before the big finale. Something clicked this time and I’m now fully on board! Looking forward to seeing what you think.
I watched 4 episodes when I tried it last year. My husband loves it. I just couldn’t make myself watch further. Felt like a real struggle. I know this is a personal thing, but I need one character that I can sympathise with/root for. Nary a one in this show. Decided not to punish self further! However, enjoyed this vicarious watch-along! Look forward to future instalments!
I am in like flynn for this - think I got 4 or 5 eps in last time around... Greg is definitely a ray of hilariously cringy sunshine amidst the dark cloud of unlikable Roys!
I wish I’d waited for your watchalong instead of hate-watching the real thing. Everyone in it is such a monstrous bellend, except Cousin Greg, that I find it to care about them. Also, “Shiv, Really” made me laugh like a drain. More, please!
I started watching it a couple of weeks ago and as I'm currently off work with a nasty cold I've been racing through it and caught up with the latest episode yesterday. Cannot wait to read your take on each episode!
Odd isn't, first time I tried (eps 1-3) I really didn't like the fact that everyone was horrible. Somehow the cosmic tides have shifted and now I live for their deeply, deeply flawed humanity. Looking forward to sharing the experience with you.
YES! I didn't realise I was waiting for this watch along until this moment!

Yes! Excited for our road ahead, Karen. X

I know what you mean. Every time I thought I might like one of them, they were a TOTAL dick. But dead pleased you're with us vicariously anyway! x
The Gaffer is back! Substack is better for it and I can’t wait to see your take on the rampant bellendery of the Roy family and the seasons unfold.
xxxxx (And they really should have just called the show Rampant Bellendery)
Bellends with impeccable knitwear.
I literally started watching this on Tuesday!
You won’t regret it!
